Romantic Forest Inspired Wedding at the Royal Ambassador in Caledon
This sweet couple had to plan their wedding during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. They had to pivot and change what their dream wedding would look like but in the end, it was such a beautiful event. This romantic forest inspired wedding was a perfect setting at the Royal Ambassador venue in Caledon.
This bride’s bouquet was a medley of perfumed and delicate blooms, it included spray roses, tweedia, tulips, tuberose, hellebores, ranunculus and an unexpected addition of anthuriums! We wanted to make this bouquet extra special so we sourced a vintage French velvet ribbon from the 1940s; full of character and history. And as a complement, the bridesmaid’s bouquets were livened up with colour by adding in yellow ranunculus.
The ceremony took place outdoors surrounded by trees and the Innis Lake. The 11 foot arch wrapped in greenery and blooms fit in perfectly with the outdoor backdrop. As a wedding florist, it’s important to take into account the environment that it will be in. So the ingredients that we chose to design this arch was equally important, this arch was made with smilax, salal, nagi, roses, delphinium, rosehips, and mums. This towering arch became part of the outdoor landscape, it was as if it had always been there. Goal accomplished!
After the ceremony, the guests entered the reception space and they were greeted by a custom calligraphy seating chart and a welcoming table decked out in sprawling greenery and lit candles. The outdoors had made it’s way inside!
With S + A’s wedding we had the privilege of not only designing their flowers but their decor as well. The Full Event Design Service ensured that their wedding design was intentional, impactful and cohesive. For their sweet heart table, we sourced a wooden harvest table and a lush love seat, which hints to the garden style theme of the wedding. We decorated the harvest and cake table with smilax to create soft romantic feeling into the venue.
French blue was a mainstay for the wedding colour palette, we believe the best way to have a big impact on an event space is to add colour through table linens. The reason we say this is because the tables take up most of the space in the venue, we find it’s the best investment for your wedding decor. Our next layer of colour was with the day-of-stationery, we designed custom table numbers, menus and place cards for each guest, with a watercolour detail adding in more peach, blue and pink. On the table setting we also upgraded the napkins to a pin dot white napkin to add in some more texture.
The guest centerpieces were tall lush centerpieces that sat on top of a harlow stand, we filled this piece with greenery and bright florals, acting as if they were trees on each table.
This romantic forest inspired wedding was definitely one of our favourites for 2020. Although, this COVID wedding came with unexpected changes, it didn’t affect the beauty and love that was felt that day. Congratulations S + A, you made it!
