3 Questions Couples Ask When Planning a Wedding during COVID-19
We really feel for couples during this time, we know it can’t be easy to make concrete plans when things are so unpredictable. We listed 3 top questions couples are asking while their planning their wedding during this pandemic. We hope this provides a little bit of clarity!
What if I have to decrease my guest count?
When creating your guestlist, it’s helpful to start with your VIP list. Depending on government guidelines, determine who will be the 10 people you wouldn’t want to miss your special day. Then add in a second tier guest list of others you’d love to attend your wedding if a bigger guest count is allowed or as other guests decline.
Be honest and clear when communicating to your guest that you might have to uninvite. Arrange for them to witness your nuptials online through Zoom so that they’ll still be a part of your wedding.
Sometimes the hardest part is figuring out what exactly to say, we’ve included an email template on what to write to your guests that you would have to uninvite to your wedding:
How can I make the best of my micro wedding?
Having a smaller wedding allows you to indulge in aspects of your wedding you wouldn’t be able to do with a larger guest count. Apart from a lush floral ceremony arch, think about adding ground aisle markers, elevated arrangements throughout the ceremony space, upgrade your seating for your guests, the options are endless.
But this also allows for the opportunity to be intentional with your wedding. With a smaller guest count, you may have the ability to give guest specific gifts, a memento that signifies something special between you and your guest.
What if I have to cancel or postpone my wedding?
If you have to postpone or cancel your wedding, we would strongly recommend you contact your vendors as soon as possible. Before you even book your vendors, make sure to ask what their cancellation or postponement policies are. In this case, we would also suggest hiring a professional wedding planner as they come in extremely helpful in mitigating vendor contracts, rescheduling and being in contact with your vendors (among so many other things) in times like these.
The best case scenario is to postpone your wedding rather than cancel. Most vendor policies will not issue a refund if a wedding is cancelled but can be more flexible with a postponement. And to be honest, you both deserve to have that special day, don’t give up hope!
